They hurt my foot.”

First sandals, then flip-flops. They still hurt.

At this point I realized it wasn’t the shoe. It must be my foot. Flip-flops hardly touch the top of your foot, yet they still bothered me. So Mommy called me into the room designated as the “doctor’s office” and looked at my foot.

She didn’t have to ask where it hurt.

A big part of the top of my foot was swollen and red. Several bite marks marked the top in the midst of the swelling and a tight red line climbed my leg.

Venom. Poison. A Brown Recluse had gone hunting that night and found my foot. While I slept, it bit several times on my right foot. At first I didn’t notice. It did not wake me from my sleep. I didn’t notice even when I awoke. Not until I tried to put my shoes on did I notice something was wrong. By that time the red line of poison was headed to my heart.

Sometimes sin can be like that too. It sneaks up like a prowling lion and strikes when your guard is down. Other times, it comes subtly like a serpent in the garden. A slip here and a slide there leads to falling head-long into the sin you said you’d never do.

Even once sin has begun poisoning our lives, we still may not realize it until the conviction of the Holy Spirit brings it to our attention. Despite the dire state of my foot, I did not realize there was a problem until I tried to put on my shoe. Then my foot told me all about it. Likewise, people often live in the grasp of destructive sin until the Holy Spirit opens their eyes to the mess they are in and shows them the way out of it into salvation.

Often time sin catches us when we are sleeping spiritually. It doesn’t come loudly, it just sneaks in when we allow it a foothold, takes up residence, and starts poisoning our lives. James 1:14-15 shows us, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Death is the ultimate wage of sin. From the time that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, the ticking time-bomb of the poison of death has been a red line headed for the heart of every son of Adam and daughter of Eve. People may try ways to treat the symptoms of a sin-poisoned heart. People may try to ease the ache caused by the God-sized whole in their heart. Yet, none of this can cure the sin-darkened heart.

I could have found or made a shoe that would go around the swollen area of my foot. I could have gone bare-foot to ignore the pain. But ignoring the problem would not have saved me. It needed treatment to draw out the poison and heal the wound. Likewise, ignoring the poison of sin does not take away the consequence of it. The poison keeps spreading. The red keeps creeping.

The good news is, we have a Great Physician who can heal us from the poison of sin and take away its scarlet stain. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Sin required a price –blood, death. Jesus, the perfect, sinless, virgin-born, Son of God, paid that price for all who would receive it. As that well-known verse says John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

We are all on the path of death, the payment for our own deeds. No amount of good works can ever cleanse our hearts of the sin that darkens it anymore than mowing the lawn could take the grass-stains out of your clothes. Eating all my vegetables couldn’t undo the venom that was already in me from the bites. Yet God in His great mercy does not leave us in our helpless state. All we have to do is call out to Him.

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

(All verses taken from the King James Version)

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack! The chickens were scattered about, happily free-ranging all over the place. Everyone was just being their happy little selves when something a bit odd took place. You see, in the barnyard near the barn there is a certain pile. When the barn gets cleaned out, that’s where the mess goes. Anyway, on top on said pile the Buff Orpington rooster stood crowing –feet planted in that stinky, greenish-brown, steaming filth— for all to hear!

*Sigh*

Roosters.

Now I’ve seen roosters just about fall on their faces due to putting so much effort into crowing. I’ve seen roosters strutting so high they tripped over a root while they were walking. It is no wonder how the term “cocky” originated from the obnoxiously arrogant roosters and young cockerels. But this occasion trumps them all. Standing on top of the pile of you-know-what to stand as high as he could over his hens with no regard for decency, this rooster crowed with all the pride he could muster.

When I considered this story, the only verse could I think of that really compared to the atrociousness of the rooster crowing proudly from the pile of…let’s just say… that which cometh out of the south end of a northbound cow –not milk. Philippians 3:18-19

“(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)”

Whose glory is in their shame. That was that rooster. Even while he stood atop that which Ezekiel was commanded to bake his bread over… the rooster did not sneak, or try to hide his embarrassing position. Instead, he crowed loudly for all to hear. The rooster gloried even in his place of shame.

If you look around at the world long enough, it isn’t hard to find people who, like the rooster, are glorying in the shame. Rather than try to find a way out of the mess they are in and get cleaned up, they boast about their predicament. They glory in sin and shame.

The Bible gives us many warnings to help us avoid finding ourselves in a similar position as the rooster –maybe not with actual KJV definition of “dirt” (which… let’s just say isn’t exactly just dirt yet.) Here are a few examples.

1 Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Proverbs 11:2 “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”

And perhaps the most famous, (though usually misquoted.) Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

Peter found himself in a similar predicament, only, the rooster (a different one --not mine) was the one to remind him. Jesus warned him that he would deny Him three times. Peter insisted he would be strong. Just as he had finished denying Jesus for the third time, the rooster crowed and Peter rushed out of the courtyard to weep. Peter’s moment of boasting came quickly before his humiliating fall into shame.

Yet Jesus did not leave him there. After He rose from the dead, Jesus went out and sought Peter. He restored him three times –each for the three times he denied Him. Peter went on to be one of the great Apostles of the early church. That fall was not the end for Peter, and neither no our falls and failures have to be our end. Many people know John 3:16, but do you know the next verse? Here is John 3:17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” Jesus came the earth not to condemn us for all our failures, but to save us from our sins.

The Bible contains much advise to help us stay off of Manure Mountain, away from sin and the shame it brings. Yet even when we fail, the Bible also tells us this in 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Thanks for reading Lynae’s Substack! The smell of rain freshened air filled the night while stars sparkled down on the sopping wet world. Through the silence of the night, I heard a loud crack.

What was that, I wondered.

As I considered the options, I guessed it was probably an old tree falling in the woods. After all, with all that rain, the leaves were hanging particularly heavy. That little bit of extra weight on a rotten, leaning tree could be the straw that broke the camel’s back… or the drop that felled said dead, rotten tree. It might have been a cow stomping around that made the noise, but let’s just stick with the tree, because I’m the one writing this, and I say it was a tree, so there.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? That question has been asked a bazillion times. However, I would like to propose a different question. How can we be sure that no one was there to hear the tree fall?

Sometimes in the dark nights of life, we may wonder if our cries make a sound. Is there really anyone there to hear us? Does anyone know or care that our lives are falling apart?

The Bible tells us that not even a sparrow falls to the ground without the Creator’s notice. We, being made in the very image of our Creator and having His breath of Life in our lungs, are far more valuable to Him than a little bird. (Matthew 10:29-31)

In the story of the Exodus, when Moses was called at the burning bush to lead Israel out of the bondage of Egypt, God revealed something to Moses.

Exodus 3:7 “And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;”

Time after time throughout the Bible, God found people when they were helpless and alone. Even when no one else was around to hear their cries, God was there. And He is still here, hearing the cries of His children when they call to Him.

If a tree falls in the woods, its Creator knows, and He hears. When a child of God calls out to Him, He hears that son or daughter of His.

Thanks for reading Lynae’s Substack! I hurried into the shadowed crevices of the edge of the cave. They would crush me if they saw me. I can’t really blame them for being afraid of me. Some of my kind would bite them. I wouldn’t, but they don’t know that.

One by one, they came into view, giants they look to my small size. Cautiously they peer inside, then hurry into the tunneling catacomb where they meet. Soon, the sound of song drifted faintly from deep inside the cave. I began to sing my own little song as I worked.

She taketh hold with her hands,

In all the King’s lands,

In his palaces makes her home,

Or through the forest roam.

The flies were particularly plentiful today. I did what I could to catch them before they made it into the catacomb to bother the King’s children. I knew they hated my thick, sticky web, but I started it as high as I could over the door, hoping to keep it out of the way of their heads, while still catching flies.

“Ah ha!” A different voice caught my attention.

I froze. That was not one of the King’s children. That was one of the soldiers. Suddenly, I had an idea. As quickly as I could, I spun my web across the whole opening of the cave. That’ll stop those pesky flies from getting in, I thought. And keep someone else out too, I chuckled to myself.

The work didn’t take me long, me being large for my kind. Soon, the web stretched across the the door like a king’s seal forbidding entry.

I curled up for a nap in the center of my web, tired from the work. My body, the color of Aspen leaves in the wind, adorned the middle of the web like a jewel on a seal. The web, though not organized like some little spiders’, was woven between the rock textured like a letter in a language foreign to man’s eyes.

It didn’t take long before my feet tingled with the vibrations coming through the web of the pounding footsteps of the Roman soldiers. I tensed, hoping my work was enough.

“Ah! Crazy spider web got me right in the neck!” I heard one shout.

“Quit worrying about spider webs and stay on task, soldier!” That must have been their captain, I guessed.

I couldn’t help but laugh, though it isn’t polite to laugh at other’s misfortune. Some of the smaller spiders have that pesky habit of using long single strings to travel between trees and buildings, then leave that spider trail hanging in mid air to annoy people as they walk through the area. Thankfully, I don’t do that. I stay in one place to build my web. Good thing too. My webbing is extra thick and tough.

“Which way did they go?” the captain shouted.

“I thought I saw them go this way,” replied the voice I had heard spying on the King’s children earlier.

“Well, they didn’t go in that cave.” Another soldier waved his sword in my direction.

I stifled a chuckle, pretending to be asleep.

“Yuck! Look at the size of that spider!”

“Don’t tell me you’ve been seein’ things again and dragged us out here for nothing.” The captain growled.

“Let’s get outta here.”

My web shook again as they all marched away into the distance.

I slept peacefully for some time while the King’s children continued their meeting deep inside the caves halls. Songs drifted towards me again, breaking my slumber. I mussed again over the words from Proverbs from which I had composed my song. “The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in the kings’ palaces.” Now, I was too big to hide in a palace. Not being a regular little house spider, I couldn’t just hide in any little crevice and be forgotten by those who hunted me.

Thus, I was stuck out here, spinning my web over the entry of the cave where they buried their dead. Yet the King’s children came here to pray and worship the Creator. In the place where they laid their dead, they celebrated the One who gave new life. It was here that the church, the Bride of Christ, met in secret, in a place the heathen were afraid to go. It was His house where His children met to praise Him. It was like a palace of sorts; His palace. Indeed, I wouldn’t trade my place here for the grandest palace on earth.

I take hold with my hand,

Here in the King’s land.

In His palace make my home,

Ne’er through the world roam.

The sound of foot steps disturbed my mussing. I hurried out of sight. The King’s children were coming, and they wouldn’t like me to be in their way as they left. Too bad I couldn’t pull my web out of the way. They would have to contend with that.

“Look at that giant web! It’s covering the whole entrance!” one of them exclaimed.

“That was fast.” A little boy commented.

“Hey, look out there. That looks like…”

“Soldiers!”

“They must have seen the web and thought no one could be in here!”

“The spider saved us!” a little child exclaimed.

“Our Savior can use even the smallest creatures to do His mighty work, dear child,” on of the elders said. “Indeed, the small and weak are often His very choice.”

(Historical fiction)

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack! href="https://unsplash.com">Unsplash

Have you ever tried shooting a rubber band across the room? Maybe you have even tried having a rubber band competition with a friend. There are many different techniques from wrapping it around one hand in toy pistol position to stretching it with both hands like a bow and arrow. Did you know that no matter in what position you choose to hold it, there are a few details that you can use to make your rubber band fly much further? (spoiler alert: these tips can be helpful for other things in life too.)

Step1: Let’s all take a moment to promise NOT to do any harm with this new skill. If you get into trouble for improper use of a rubber band, do not blame me. I warned you. (Now that my false introduction is complete, let’s get to the real instructions.)

Actual step 1: The Anchor. To insure a good flight, the rubber band must first have a good anchor point. Without a sturdy starting point, there will be nothing against which to stretch the band and no way to aim it in any direction —if it even flies at all. For your rubber band, you might use the end of your finger around which to hook your band.

However, our lives need a different kind of anchor. To live to the greatest potential, our lives must be built upon the anchor Rock of our salvation; Jesus. Unless we put Him first in our lives and follow His law, we are doomed to drift about on the winds of this world. Only when we focus our lives on Him can we live a purposeful life for His glory.

Step 2: The Stretch. Once the anchor point has been established, then the band can be stretched. Now this is the part that trips many people up. You see, one cannot simply pull it back and let it go. Well, you can; it will just flop around in the air and not fly to its full potential. One side must be stretched tighter than the other.

This represents how our lives should be ordered. The Bible repeatedly warns us that we must focus most on the spiritual things rather than the worldly desires of the flesh. (Roman 8:13, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”) There is a war between good and evil, spirit and flesh. In order to live a life pleasing to God, we must not let our flesh take control of us. We must keep a tighter more restrictive hold on the flesh lest it compete with the spirit and prevent us from being able to live the life that God wants us to live. Paul the apostle said in 1Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

Now I do not totally understand how this principal affects rubber bands, but it is quite effective nonetheless. (If you happen to be a science geek and can explain this from a scientific point of view, feel free to let me know.)

Step 3: Let Go. To finish the rubber band set up and launch it into flight, the back part of the band (the part closest to you) must be instantly and cleanly released. The front anchored, the two sides unequally stretched, it is time to let go.

In our walk with Christ, we too must let go of our own desires and let Him take control of our lives. If you try to hang on to the rubber band, it will not go anywhere and your hand will probably get tired of holding it stretched. (If you wait too long, it may even dry rot and break, launching bits of ruined rubber into orbit.) You have to let go and watch it fly. So our lives will remain stuck if we try to keep control of everything. Some things must be given to God through prayer.

Conclusion: Pick it up. Don’t leave your rubber band lying around for someone else to pick up. Now before you accuse me of sounding like your mother, let me give you a couple good reasons. One: leaving your ammunition laying around may very well lead to it being captured by an opponent. Two: by retrieving your band, you can now try shooting it again. Your first attempt may not be perfect. (Rubber bands or challenges in life.) Don’t let failure defeat you. A fail is a First Attempt In Learning. Pick up the pieces, and try again.

All of these steps must be accurately accomplished in order to shoot a rubber band to its full potential. Likewise, we need certain elements in our lives to reach our potential in Christ. While the end of your finger may serve as an anchor for the rubber band, Jesus is the anchor and the Rock for our lives. Only when we fix our eyes on Him, seek first His kingdom over all the things of the flesh and the world, and let go and let Him take over can we fly with Him. Always remember, if you mess up, ask Jesus to forgive you and help you, then get up and try again.

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack! It was on that day in 1776, two-hundred and fifty years ago, that certain brave patriots gathered together, penned the Declaration of Independence, and signed it –knowing full well that they were risking everything with that stroke of the pen that told the king who was behind the rebellion. Were they to be caught, they would all be killed as traitors.

Yet the fear of this threat did not stop them. From the day the Pilgrims fled England searching for a place to worship freely as they chose, those who built America were determined to do right even in the face of almost certain death. Courage and conviction drove them onward. Legend has it that when John Hancock signed his name on the Declaration, he said he wrote it big enough so the king could read it without his spectacles. They did not try to hide their names in micro-print; they stood boldly for what they believed.

Courage and conviction has long been a mark of the children of God, reaching back long before America or even England was born. The Bible is full of stories of a men and women standing up against adversity. While America was miraculously born through the fire of muskets and bombs established on the Fourth of July, there was another miracle seen through the flames of the furnace of Babylon. Another declaration of true freedom found only in God.

As captives in a pagan land, religious freedom was not always a thing for the exiled Jews. Yet in the midst of exile, God showed mercy to His children even there. When the arrogant King Nebuchadnezzar ordered his officials to bow before the golden image, three Hebrews, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood. While the Bible does not say they specifically tried to stand out, it is kind of hard to miss three guys standing in the middle of a bunch of people laying with their faces to the ground.

The king heard about it. Upon calling for the three, he offered them another chance to worship his image. But they would not yield.

Daniel 3:16-17 KJV “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.”

They believed God had the power to deliver them, but even in the face of death, they were determined to follow God before man. Needless to say, neither King George nor King Nebuchadnezzar were very happy when their subjects defied them. But there was a ‘fourth’ in both stories.

Nebuchadnezzar had the three Hebrews tied up and thrown into the fire after it was heated to seven times its usual temperature. As proof of how hot and ferocious this fire was, the guards that threw the Hebrews into the fire were killed by the flames. But the king was in for a surprise. (Both kings, but we’ll get back to George later.)

Daniel 3:24-26 KJV “Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, came forth of the midst of the fire”

God was with them and protected them in the midst of impossible circumstances. The king took notice and appeared to learn his lesson for a while, until his power and wealth went to his head… again. But that is a story for another time. It is time to get back to King George.

Likewise, there was a fourth in the story of America –the Fourth of July; the day that America was born in the fire of war. England had one of the most powerful military forces on earth at that time. The Americans, on the other hand, were largely farmers and hunters, though some had military experience from the French and Indian War. They did not have the best ships. They did not have the superior numbers or wealth. In some cases, they fought in unfinished forts that were not built for war in the first place. They were out numbered and seemed overpowered. Yet against all odds, they won the war and England sailed away in defeat. It was not until the war of 1812 that they finally learned their lesson and left America alone, but that likewise, is another story for another time.

In Biblical numbers, four represented the whole of something, for example, the four winds or the four point of the compass. When man fell short, God became that Fourth man in the fire with the three Hebrew Children. When America seemed to stand no chance against the mighty British empire, God granted them the victory despite impossible odds. Still today, He is working miracles in the most unexpected ways in the most impossible circumstances. No matter what life throws at you, you can trust that the God who created the universe and everything in it can take care of you in whatever you face.

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack! Ironic, isn’t it. They call it white as snow, but there is nothing of the purity and cleanliness of snow about it. I used to pity such people, the dreaded, those avoided like the plague –or should I say, with the plague, at least by anyone with half a brain.

It’s kind of funny. I guess I have nothing to fear, since I’m the thing everyone fears. Sometimes I feel like a kind of death angel. Yet it stabs like a knife too. I’m the dread in every mother’s eye for her children. I’m the wreckage doomed to waste away.

Or was.

I knew there was One who could fix it all. I had watched Him do wonders beyond belief – for others. I had even sent others to Him myself. But how could I ever go to Him? I didn’t deserve it. I didn’t deserve grace or mercy or joy. Not after my mistake. I had been in the flock, but my mistakes had led me here. Surely, there could be no help left for the likes of me.

At last, I went. I fell on my knees before Him. With eyes full of tears, I spoke the only words I could find. “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”

He looked at me. He didn’t ask for proof of my faith. He did not ask if I really wanted to be made whole. The eyes that saw the dawn of the world pierced through the depths of my soul and saw me. The ears that heard the silent laughter of Sarah and the cry of Hagar in the desert heard me. The hands that formed the universe reached down and touched me – touched me, a leper, uncleanness itself. Even the very things I touched became unclean, so that anyone who even touched them became unclean for a season. But He touched me anyway. Though He spoke only a few words to mortal ears, my heart heard so much more. “I will; be thou clean.”

I never thought I would be here writing these words. Ironic, isn’t it. The very meaning of Mercy is deliverance from what we deserve. Grace is a gift we don’t deserve. Yet so often we shy away from Grace because we don’t deserve it. That is why it is is Grace. We never could deserve the goodness of our great and awesome God.

Now more than ever, I cannot help but tell of the great things He has done for me.

(based on Matthew 8:1-3 KJV)

Matthew 8:3 KJV “And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack! Such a pawn was not seen as worthy of a name. They don’t really care about me; they only use the worst of my fallen nature for their own use.

If they did call me by a name, they might would call me Justice or Vengeance. Those who see me, see for the last time, for they become my dinner. What can I say? They keep me hungry, so I eat whatever I can get my paws on.

Here they keep me, one of the King’s lions, in this den sealed by the great stone door. I live out my days waiting for whatever poor victim is sentenced to death by lions. Many of these prisoners I have seen. Some, no doubt, deserving of their fate. Others just innocents who fell into disfavor with the King.

One day, something strange happened. The door above me was opened. Light pierced the dark den. Those who opened the door ducked back from the scent of death wafting up from the den as it struck them in the face.

The prisoner appeared. Placing the ropes around him, they lowered him into the den. Some of the other lions licked their chops in anticipation. The prisoner was deposited on the floor of our den, the ropes were pulled, and the door closed. We could hear the muffled voices of the men as the man in fancy clothes, who they called King, placed his seal on the great rock.

Suddenly, a change came over us. It was as though the horrid curse was lifted. We had heard from our ancestors of a time in which we lions were not such awful beasts, but lived happily with mankind. The beasts did not kill each other to eat, nor did men kill us. But we had never known anything but fear and hatred for these people. Now, that curse was lifted.

We saw a friend, not a prey, standing before us. I rose and walked towards him. At first, he stood still. I rubbed against him purring like the great cat I was. Soon, he relaxed. We would not hurt him.

This man had a name. As he looked at me with love I had never seen in a human before, he told me his name —Daniel, servant of the Living God. Daniel ran his hands through my thick mane.

My mate joined me in greeting Daniel. She also purred louder than I had ever heard her purr before. How lovely it was to love and be loved by the humans we were meant to serve in the Garden. Even if this was a cold, stone den, there was still a bit of paradise in the moment.

Soon, he grew tired. We made him as comfortable as we could. Daniel curled up against me while my mate lay by his feet. That night he slept as well as if he were in the royal palace. The King in his royal palace, on the other hand, was pacing so much we could hear him thumping around all the way down here! I purred loudly to cover the sound, so Daniel could sleep.

Morning came. The door was opened. The King called out for Daniel.

Before Daniel left us, he gave us names. Me, he called Ariel and my mate he called Lawbee. It was said in the Garden Adam gave the animals names. Daniel placed his hand of friendship and blessing on our heads, stroked my mane one last time, then was lifted up out of the den by the king’s guards and left us.

The King rejoiced when he saw Daniel alive and well. Yet a cloud of wrath came over his jubilation. Turning to the wicked men who had schemed against Daniel, he ordered them to be thrown into the den with their families. Even as he spoke, the curse of the flood descended on us again. We began to growl hungrily at the people above us.

The wicked ones were lowered into our den. This time, we did not wait. They were all dead before they touched the floor of the den.

Though I remain a prisoner of the curse and the King, I have seen a glimpse of what paradise was meant to be.

Daniel 6:21-22 (KJV) “Then said Daniel unto the king, ‘O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.’”

Thanks for reading Lynae's Substack!
